Job Title:   Business Development Manager
Account Management/Business Development

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Creates, develops, and implements the long and near term tactical plans for the profitable growth of an Insurance Center.  Manages a staff of insurance professionals with assigned territorial responsibilities for the acquisition of new business and retention of business at the account, program, and portfolio levels.  Provides leadership by coaching and providing a personal example to all Insurance Center staff – marketing and underwriting – to effectively communicate and deliver HSB’s value proposition.  Leads development and management of Client Companies, Agents, and Broker relationships including education.  Personally administers relationship management with Client Companies, Agents, and Brokers to enhance HSB visibility.  Works with all HSB business units (claims, engineering, operations, underwriting) to provide account and book of business solutions.  May have staffing accountabilities.  Maximizes synergy with HSB and other Munich primary insurance business units.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications - Education:
Required:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
       
Qualifications - Work Experience:
Required:  

7+ years in the insurance industry (or 3 to 5 years at the director level).  Experience working with senior management in developing tactical plans.
       
Desired:
5 to 7 years of business experience that includes: commercial property and casualty marketing and sales experience.
 
Qualifications – Certifications/Designations/ Specialized Training/ Licenses:
Required:
CPCU, CIC, ARM or other insurance designation.

Qualifications - Technical Skills:
Required:  
Supervisory or management experience; business finance P&L; consultative selling skills; territory/client management; product knowledge; business acumen; presentation/training skills.  
       
Desired:      
Knowledge of HSB products and services.  Knowledge of equipment exposures, Understanding of Property & Casualty lines.

Qualifications - Non-Technical Skills:
Required:
Leadership, teamwork, interpersonal/teamwork management; communication skills; results oriented, high degree of initiative. 

Desired:
Demonstrates ability to establish relationships with all levels of management within customer organizations.                     

Qualifications - Other:
Required:
Project and time management, working knowledge of insurance concepts, and general industry knowledge.  Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), Ability to travel overnight up to 30%.
