Responsible for creation and maintenance of all pricing tools used by MC and ensure that all tools are approved by Munich Health (MH) and meet MH standards
Responsible for creating and pricing Managed Care solutions for complex risks in conjunction with Underwriting Managers.
Manage and develop less senior actuaries. Create developmental programs/paths to illustrate continuing career opportunities with MHNA.
Supervise pricing and monitoring of Managed Care programs.
Support unit actuaries in pricing of traditional Managed Care concepts and conduct pricing for non-proportional Managed Care in coordination with Actuarial Standards.
Responsible for accompanying underwriters on client visits and developing relationships to support business development as requested by Underwriting Managers and Head of of MC.
Continually improve and oversee treaty and portfolio results monitoring process to ensure actuaries provide underwriters with conclusions and next steps in addition to important analysis. Determine the actuarial needs of MC and develop plans to meet those needs .
Lead the development, maintenance and enhancement of actuarial models which support MC’s business plan.
Effectively communicate and coordinate information, technical issues, and activities between actuarial departments, as well as with internal and external constituents especially MHNA and MH - Munich.
Provide leadership in the training of underwriters, account managers, underwriting assistants as well as other actuaries regarding actuarial analyses and methodologies.
Provide leadership in the development of new methodologies/products/procedures for MC. Maintain current knowledge of trends and products in the insurance and MC industries.
Complete high-level peer reviews on actuarial work and provide constructive feedback, as needed. Maintain consistency of methods as appropriate.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of rating models. Ability to develop and build models, including written specifications for IT.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of reserving models working closely with MHNA Corporate Actuary.
Pursue formal education in reinsurance/insurance and actuarial science.
Participate in industry meetings/seminars (SOA, AAA, DMAA, AHIP, etc.)
Participate in training and development (internal and external) as needed.
Participate in the annual development of MC’s Financial Plan.
Bachelors degree in mathematics, actuarial science, economics, finance, statistics, business or related field.
Fellowship in the Casualty Acuarial Society (FCAS) or the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
At least 12 years of insurance/reinsurance/actuarial experience, with at least 5 years of Managed Care experience and/or health insurance/Managed Care experience.
At least five years of management experience.
Strong technical actuarial skills.
Strong computer skills, including the ability to manage programmers.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Good time management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
