Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Medical interpreting between clinician and patient during face-to-face or telephone encounters. 2. Acts as a liaison between patients and staff. 3. Informs clinicians about cultural considerations when treating non- English speaking patients. 4. Interpreter for ancillary departments. 5. Interpreters between non-clinical staff and patients as needed. 6. Explains interpreter model to clinicians and patients. 7. Orients patients to hospital as needed, i.e., L & D tours, community events, etc. 8.Other duties as needed. 9.Translates one time document related to patient encounter.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree or experience. 2. Certificate from Medical Interpreter Training Course 3. Bi-lingual (oral and written) bi-cultural skills. 4. Medical interpreting skills, including accuracy and memory. 5 .Basic anatomy and physiology vocabulary in English and Target Language. 6.Experience working as an interpreter in a clinical environment. 7. Ability to work well as a team with clinicians and patients. 8.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
