Certified Nurse Midwife

Mount Auburn Hospital - Cambridge, MA

The Midwives at Mount Auburn Hospital are seeking a per diem, full-scope Certified Nurse-Midwife for rewarding work in a vibrant and growing practice with a reputation for excellence. The practice seeks an experienced midwife, preferably fluent in Spanish, committed to serving a diverse population. Candidates must possess ACNM certification and minimum of 2-4 years midwifery experience. Must be willing and able to first assist at cesarean births (training will be provided if needed). Must have Massachusetts advanced practice nurse licensure, controlled substance registration, and federal DEA. Must be comfortable educating midwifery, medical and nursing students. Nights, weekends, and holidays are required. Per diems are expected to offer at least four shifts per month, and 1 out of 3 holiday coverage. The work can be 12 or 24 hour shifts for the OB floor, 8 hour shifts for our OB Triage service, or 4-8 hours in an outpatient office. Being able to fill in with short notice for sick calls is a huge plus.

We are a group of 25 midwives who helped almost a thousand babies enter the world last year. Our service, founded in 1983, celebrated our 17,000 birth in 2020. We are responsible for 41% of the births at Mount Auburn Hospital. We offer water births, Latina doula support for Spanish-speaking patients, and prenatal care based on primary midwifery. The hospital provides 24 hour anesthesia coverage for the 53% of our patients who choose epidurals. We enjoy the best work-life balance in the Boston area with two midwives on call 24 hours a day.
