ENGINEER - HVAC SYSTEMS

Description:

JOB SUMMARY
Is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all HVAC building control systems. Performs highly skilled technical work involving the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and other mechanical systems including chilled water and package units serving the facilities. Maintains automated control systems. Performs preventative maintenance and diagnose and repairs Heat Pumps, VAV Boxes, AHUs, RTUs, condensers etc.
 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Routinely monitors afore mentioned systems and equipment using computerized building automation system.
  • Makes adjustments to the BAS (Building Automation System) to insure customer comfort.
  • Monitors and maintains temperatures and thermostat settings in all buildings.
  • Implements the HVAC Preventive Maintenance Program, including adjustments, replacement of filters, cleaning of coils, and lubrication of units.
  • Reviews, edits, and modifies HVAC preventive maintenance procedures to insure proper maintenance levels and intervals.
  • Diagnose, maintain and repair building HVAC control systems and associated equipment.
  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, stocking and maintaining the HVAC parts inventory.
  • Maintains mechanical areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Responds to emergency, after hours, calls for HVAC systems On Call schedule.
  • Communicates with and advise the department Director and Manager of needed system repairs or deficiencies.
  • Using appropriate tools and instruments, calibrate, test, repair and modify existing control systems.
  • Trains mechanics in the operation of existing, redesigned and new building control systems.
  • Prepares and maintains logs and records for HVAC control equipment and systems as required.
  • Performs other Non-HVAC related duties at the direction of department director or manager or Shift Supervisor.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of refrigeration, heating/air conditioning technology.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in heating/air conditioning and must have experience with BAS (Building Automation Systems). Certificate of completion from a heating and air conditioning school AND EPA Card.
