Tour Guide - Shark Reef (PT)
18 and over
The position will require working with groups of 30 or more people, including children in grades K – 12, in both the aquarium and classroom settings.
Position interprets the Aquarium’s living collection to school groups and private groups through exciting and entertaining programs and classroom activities.
Position will assist Education Manager and Educator Biologist in Outreach programs at local schools, community centers, auditoriums, etc.
Position will require local travel, and possible handling of live animals.
Answer school tour reservation telephone line, and take school group and outreach reservations using Outlook.
Package school tour information to be sent to teachers, including creating mailing labels and preparing envelopes for mailing.
Assist Education Manager and/or Educator Biologist as needed.
Maintains both public and animal safety by monitoring visitor behavior, correcting where necessary, advising supervisor and/or animal care of abnormal situations.
Performs guests’ tours in both front and back of house areas of the aquarium as directed.
Assists with guest dive programs, through tours, tending and set up.
Performs all other job related duties as assigned.
Ability to speak clearly and present to large groups of guest/students.
Ability to work in a constantly changing environment.
Excellent customer service skills.
Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Associate Degree with a focus in Biology.
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
