Job Title:   Director of Partnership Marketing

It is the primary responsibility of the Director of Partnership & Event Marketing to cultivate strategic relationships with clients, partners & guests through multi-platform marketing initiatives that drive revenue, stakeholder value & brand awareness for MGM Resorts International by creating and managing brand alignments that engage our customers, drive revenue and increase share of wallet.

The Director is the strategic driver on all things related to Partnership & Event Marketing, including leading and overseeing team of direct reports. All duties are to be performed in accordance with department and MGM Resorts International policies and procedures and legal requirements. At all times, the Director must ensure the goals and interest of the Partnership & Event Marketing and all MGM Resorts International properties (individually and collectively) are upheld and preserved.

Provide Leadership and Strategic Direction –
  • With Vice President & Executive Director, create and execute departmental strategy, operating procedures, structure, and efficiency that provide maximum value to corporation as a whole. Direct team consistently in order to achieve goals.
  • Responsible for defining and achieving Key Performance Indicators, defined by program, which may include but are not limited to driving revenue in various ways (e.g. ticket sales, room nights, beverage sales, ancillary spend, etc.), maximizing ROI, increasing member sign ups and engagement in the M life program, maximizing brand impressions, obtaining and utilizing cooperative marketing funds, maximizing existing programs and forging new partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Create reporting strategy in order to track and achieve departmental KPIs; able to interpret complex reports and assist in modifying variables to achieve accuracy; develop and define departmental strategies by working closely with analytics teams.
  • Understand high level function and dependency on variety of internal technologies, systems and departments; able to modify departmental plans as variability in outside forces occurs in order to continue progression of goals.
  • Strong ability to identify business issues, formulate plans to resolve these issues, and effectively communicate results to stakeholders, partners and senior management.
  • Lead and mentor team, which may include but is not limited to interviewing, training, oversight and coaching direct and indirect reports by establishing clear roles and responsibilities and providing regular feedback and guidance on departmental short and long term vision.
  • Create and lead regular productive meetings and interactions with clients, resort management, senior executives and team.
  • Monitors news, current events, market and relevant industry trends.
  • Understands and abides by all company policies, procedures, practices and philosophies.
Provide Oversight to Relationships, Events, Projects and Accounts –
  • Builds and maintains internal and external professional relationships. Ability to influence across teams to achieve goals required.
  • Work collaboratively with and lead cross functional teams in order to achieve departmental goals, which may include advertising, media planners/buyers, legal, risk management, public relations, casino marketing, corporate marketing, front line operations, strategic sourcing, information technology, national and international market development, and resort teams.
  • Research, recognize, actively pursue and generate new brand alignment leads, including sponsorship sales and partner relationships; evaluate and oversee activation on opportunities.
  • Lead pitch to outside brands for sponsorship and partnership sales; negotiate and execute contracting to achieve best arrangement for MGM Resorts while providing fair value to client.
  • Develop and oversee execution of comprehensive, dedicated, targeted multi-platform media and marketing plans in order to maximize impact of new and existing relationships, including but not limited to advertising creative and placement, database marketing, internet marketing, social media execution, sweepstakes, etc.
  • Oversee direction and execution of high value programs, as well as creative and formal proposals.
  • Monitor account management, project management and outside agencies.
  • Oversee creation, planning, and coordination of on-premise events, ensuring accurate execution of branded promotions on behalf of sponsors and partners, including communications across all supporting resort departments, e.g. staff communications, hotel operations, food and beverage, entertainment, public relations.
  • Create, substantiate, and audit use of market value template used to provide media valuation for on property assets including static and digital media, in-room product placement and branded experiences.
  • Direct coordination of property & company initiatives and events by communicating programs and promotions, distributing collateral, maintaining brand standards, driving revenue, obtaining new sponsorships & allocating existing cooperative marketing funds, etc.
  • Assists Executive Director & Vice President and completes special projects as needed.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

  • At least 6 or more years of experience in sales, marketing, events, media or other relevant area.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and oversee implementation projects/programs.
  • Proven track record in developing and delivering complex programs and projects with positive, measurable results.
  • Effective organization skills to function effectively and multi task under time constraints and within established deadlines; attention to detail and sense of urgency necessary.
  • Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills while maintain a professional image and enthusiastic attitude at all times.
  • Self-motivated and directed with ability to work on individual projects as well as in a team, making empowered decisions and taking ownership of designated projects and areas.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to lead and mentor a team.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Hotel Management, Business Administration or relevant field.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Hospitality related experience.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
