Handles writing and/or cashing of tickets in accordance with department policy and ensures compliance to Nevada Gaming Regulation Title 31 and Regulation 22.
Makes payment on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verifies tickets and payoffs.
Ensures that all guests and other employees are treated with courtesy and respect.
Projects a professional and friendly demeanor and remains attentive to guests during assigned shifts.
Ensures that the Race and Sports Book Supervisors are informed of all guests’ request for service.
Maintains and balances cash drawer.
Closes cash drawer according to the Race and Sports Book procedures at the end of shift.
Ensures transactions are accurate, visible to all involved parties and executed in an accurate and timely manner.
Creates and enters player tracking cards.
Provides information and assistance to guests in a timely, courteous manner.
Notifies Race and Sports Book Supervisor of the need for supplies, suspicious activity in The Book and situations regarding Title 31 and Regulation 22.
Stocks Race and Sports Book Writer/Cashier stations with supplies; keeps all stations neat and clean.
Works additional hours on short notice as requested by Race and Sports Book Management in order to accommodate one of the following situations: staffing shortage, employee absence, fluctuations in business levels, special projects, etc.
Provides administrative input clerk assistance when necessary.
Performs other related duties as requested.
At least 1 year guest service and cash handling experience.
Know how to accept various forms of payment and make correct change when necessary.
Intermediate math and money management skills and have the ability to maintain and balance a cash drawer.
Visual abilities and tolerance that is needed to use a computer and complete detailed paperwork in the Race and Sports Book.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy and somewhat stressful environment, maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal effectively with management, employees and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Excellent customer service skills.
Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Knowledge of sports.
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
