JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of menu items as well as wine lists served including ingredients, preparation, and sourcing. 
  • Adheres to all responsible alcohol serving requirements as dictated by the state; requests identification from guest ordering alcohol when legal age is questionable.
  • Monitors accuracy of orders and overall dining experience.
  • Adheres to all responsible alcohol consumption requirements as dictated by the state.  Follows up with diners at critical points during the meal.  Assumes ultimate responsibility of guest satisfaction while dining. 
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area.  Keeps tables neat and orderly by removing dishware no longer in use.  Assists in bussing of tables and resetting tables for next seating.
  • Communicates to host person when leaving assigned workstation.  Checks out with host person or manager on duty before leaving and signs out on host log sheet.
  • Completes side work as posted.
  • Notifies manager on duty of any guests concerns.
  • Attends training sessions and retains knowledge covered therein. 
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned. 
 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 Required:
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Front Waiter or Back Waiter in a fine dining establishment.
  • Good working knowledge of all restaurant functions.
  • Working knowledge of tableside service.
  • Extensive knowledge of wine and wine service techniques is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Manage multiple tasks and remain calm in very high paced and stressful environment and work under pressure.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other employees of the organization. 
  • Able to work in close quarters or small rooms and occasionally be exposed to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions.  Work environmental factors include noise, dust, and smoke. 
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms. 
 
Preferred:
  • Experience in large and heavy tray handling.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
