JOB DESCRIPTION:
It is the responsibility of the Employee Relations Specialist to provide advice and counsel to managers and employees in the resolution of employee-related problems, discipline and discharge. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Investigate and evaluate cases of employee dissatisfaction or discipline. Interview employees and determine problems or perceived problems.
  • Visit affected departments, contact supervisors, review relevant policies and objectively document all facts and opinions relevant to the case.
  • Report findings to management and consult with management on appropriate course of action.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to management on all employee related problems, which could result in oral or written discipline.
  • When requested, assist with the written disciplinary documentation to ensure consistency in policy application.
  • Promote direct communication and positive rapport amongst employees and managers.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with management and employees when a problem occurs to effectively resolve disputes that may arise from interpretations or actions involving human resources, company policy or contractual language.
  • Support management in the utilization of the Introductory Period Review Program.
  • Obtain and provide necessary supporting documentation and feedback to third party unemployment administrator.
  • Coach and train operational departments on various aspects of the business from a Human Resource prospective.
  • Participate in employee events and recognition activities.
  • Keep the Employee Relations leadership informed on all pertinent information and any irregularities.
  • Train employees in the field of employee relations.
  • Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • At least 2 years experience in the employee relations/ labor field.
  • Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette a must.
  • Scanning, faxing and copying capabilities.
  • Organizational skills to function effectively with attention to detail while meeting established deadlines a must.
  • The ability to enforce the organization’s policies, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Work varied shifts; including weekends and holidays.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
