Supply Management


To manage the planning, implementation and fiscal responsibilities of the procurement of goods and services for a facility or multiple facilities with an inventory of greater than $2 million, or for multiple facilities.


  • Leverage buying capabilities through coordination of purchases and development of partnerships and alliances with key vendors.
  • Locate, maintain, and monitor opportunities to reduce the total cost of ownership of inventoried non-fiber items.
  • Monitor, track, and improve supplier performance metrics at plant and regional level.
  • Team with key internal customers to meet their requirements for goods and services.
  • Communicate Supply Management strategies and projects at facilities.
  • Assist in the development of long-term vendor relationships.
  • Assist in the development of improved purchasing systems and processes to reduce overall cost.
  • Assist in the preparation of plan metrics (inventory levels, usage, loss, savings analysis).
  • Supervise storeroom staff; hire, train, and complete performance evaluations.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced supply management staff.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Develop an understanding of, support of, and use of the Supply Management Six Step Business Process.
  • Manage and oversee supplies contracts. Negotiate changes as required to meet plant requirements.
  • Implement a coordinated materials management approach to procurement and inventory management.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels in the store room; monitor inventory usage.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Skill in negotiating contracts and prices.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and a change agent.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software.
  • Knowledge of effective materials management and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of effective supervisory and management practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop materials management plan metrics.
  • Good negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in pricing and price forecasting.



  • Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in same preferred.



  • 3 - 5 years’ demonstrated procurement/supply management experience.
  • 1 - 2 years' supervisory experience.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the keyresponsibilities of this position.



  • Primarily office work within a plant environment.
  • Occasional extended work hours and travel required.
