JOB DESCRIPTION:
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide advanced IT technical solutions, application infrastructure support and training that contributes to the overall effectiveness of manufacturing operations.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and enforce LP hardware and software manufacturing standards to support such programs as process control, statistical process control, statistical quality control, and down time tracking application systems.
  • Participate in analysis, design, development and implementation of manufacturing systems.
  • Install and configure manufacturing operating systems and application software packages as required.
  • Design and develop efficient database systems; maintain database structures, utilization standards, and access methods to ensure optimum performance; initiate performance tuning and troubleshoot problems as needed.
  • Design and document network configurations and monitor existing systems for stable performance; analyze network loads, traffic, and utilization trends; troubleshoot problems and adjust settings as needed; administer user accounts and security.
  • Conduct manufacturing application training for LP personnel from all levels.
  • Establish and maintain good working relations with LP business units supported and corporate functional teams
  • Plan, install and troubleshoot computer and local area network software and hardware, and monitor and maintain network system performance. 
  • Maintain the integrity of application database systems. 
  • Participate in the development of technical standards and application interfaces.
  • Monitor system performance and data integrity.
  • Conduct manufacturing application training for LP personnel from all levels.
  • Perform project and work prioritization and scheduling.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Wonderware applications (Historian [InSQL], Historian Client [Active Factory], QI Analyst, System Platform, etc)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database design, Transact-SQL programming, relational database structures, toolsets and system performance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications, programming languages (VB.Net, ASP.net), and system development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing technologies such as PLC, HMI and communications protocols
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network, wiring, hubs, routers, and PC and server hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local area networks and effective administration.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to install and configure hardware and software.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of LP staff as well as hardware & software vendors.
 
 
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
 
Experience:

  • 5 plus years of related experience
 
Or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
 
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office and mill environment with moderate to heavy travel required between facilities (50% or more)
  • On call work required.
