Job Summary:

Interface is currently seeking a Process Engineer II in West Point, GA. 

Position Summary: 
The Process Engineer II will identify improvement opportunities that align with strategic objectives and lead multi-disciplined teams improving existing processes, reducing costs and will assist in the implementation of new manufacturing processes. This will be accomplished through the use of Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies utilizing the DMAIC process, DOE, FMEA, Process Mapping, 6S, etc. This includes, but is not limited to, examining equipment, processes and operations, then making improvements through the definition, development, documentation, training and implementation of the process. Candidates should enjoy both hands-on and theoretical engineering approaches. 

Essential duties:
Responsible for but not limited to:

  • Quality/Off-Quality. Work to reduce off quality by Analyzing Quality Data to determine issues impacting quality.
  • Maintain Process Specifications for achieving first quality.
  • Develop Project Charters and Lead process improvement and cost reduction teams utilizing Six Sigma and Lean tools and techniques
  • Develop and implement production methods in order to improve quality, reduce cost, introduce new processes , energy reduction, raw material reductions, and foster technological advancement.
  • Provide regular updates on project status
  • Evaluate all processes to identify opportunities to improve product uniformity, eliminate non value added functions, optimize process efficiency and evaluate process for yield and safety improvement opportunities.
  • Perform Process Audits
  • Planning and execution of all aspects of a project or technology initiative, including basic data collection, engineering evaluation, scope of work development, cost estimations and financial analysis.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, ISO 9001 & 14001 policies.
  • Work with operators on the floor to learn the capabilities and limitations of our processes and identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, work procedures, quality and Safety.
  • Partner with manufacturing to develop, maintain, implement, and monitor operational procedures and standards.
  • Maintain accurate, legible and well organized records of all projects, trials and necessary support data needed to fulfill their role as an improvement agent in manufacturing and related support areas
  • Travel to locations outside the company to conduct and or assist in continuous improvement activities, trials or training as necessary to meet company needs
  • Contact outside vendors concerning raw materials, supplies, machinery or equipment as necessary to meet company needs. Must be able to evaluate and analyze each of these items as to their merit and usefulness in fulfilling our company and management initiatives.
  • Learn and retain a working knowledge of company initiatives, processes, laboratory testing and quality control procedures as necessary to meet company needs.
  • Comply with Safety Rules
  • Comply with Environmental Regulations
  • Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).


Educational requirements: 

  • BS in Engineering and two years Process Engineering experience
  • In lieu of Engineering degree, will accept a college degree and eight years Process Improvement experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred

Skills and experience:

  • Thorough understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of six sigma and lean tools and techniques (DMAIC, DOE, FMEA, SPC, Process Mapping, etc.)
  • Professional attitude and work ethic, and be a self-starter with a desire to achieve results.
  • Experience working with customers, sales and marketing, to understand performance and end-use requirements, determining critical process characteristics, variables, and measurement systems that determine and measure conformance to requirements (experience with QFD)
  • Experience with Statistical Software such as Minitab or SPC for Excel, flowcharting and process mapping software, project management ; ability to train others in their use
  • Proven team leadership skills and the ability to influence others at all levels of the organization
  • Strong Project management skills
  • Knowledgeable of process engineering, manufacturing engineering, assembly and installation techniques and material properties.
  • Familiar with design of machinery fundamentals, mechanical-electromechanical systems, pneumatic-hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data.
  • Capable of process documentation such as manufacturing routings, task descriptions, work center definitions, project costing, bid package preparation and execution
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written from floor level through the management level.
  • Strong computer literacy
