Job Summary:

Interface is currently seeking a Junior Concept Designer in Atlanta, GA. 

Position summary:

The Junior Concept Designer focuses on the creation of product installation concepts and the operation of digital product installation software. He/She incorporates product, installation, graphics and print knowledge to provide support and resources to multiple users.

Essential duties:

  • Will acquire a working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD based software applications used in presenting Interface product in a customer's floor plan
  • Will learn to understand scale, perspective and flooring applications as they relate to flooring applications
  • Will develop a knowledge in the various digital product installation processes used in the design studio to fill customer requests
  • Assists with the development of custom installation concepts based on a request from a customer.
  • Prepares installation images for use by the Concept Designer and/or Estimator.
  • Develops both 2D and 3D room settings utilizing customer provided images, carpet tile photography and/or simulations of products.
  • Supports the Concept Estimator on 2D plan installations.
  • Reviews digital images and concepts before shipment.
  • Provides AE and customer support via telephone, email, etc.
  • Will develop a basic understanding of manufacturing processes, including pattern repeats, thread-ups, cutting, etc.
  • Will develop knowledge of product offerings to assist with product selection.
  • Prepares materials/images for Custom Development, Product Development, Marketing and design consultants.
  • Assists in the review and enhancement of all existing room scene files.
  • Learn to recognize and correct discrepancies in digital installation images.
  • Maintains housekeeping.
  • Complies with all safety rules.
  • Complies with environmental regulations.
  • Aware of departmental material safety data sheets (MSDS).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Educational requirements: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Art and Design or related field (Consideration will be given to a combination of education and experience in a related field in lieu of a Bachelors Degree) preferred
  • High School Diploma required


Skills and experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adobe Photoshop or parallel design software knowledge
  • Excellent computer aptitude
  • Must have normal color vision and average to above average shade discernment
  • Microsoft Office knowledge required.
  • Lotus Smart Suite knowledge preferred.
  • One year previous graphic design experience preferred
  • One year previous design experience in textile environment preferred
  • One year previous color matching and/or printing experience preferred
  • Adobe InDesign and Illustrator knowledge preferred
  • Lotus Notes, AS/400, Microsoft office, and/or Lotus Smart Suite knowledge preferred
  • CAD, Callidus or parallel floor planning software experience preferred
  • Ability to meet high expectations under tight and changing deadlines
  • Ability to interpret a customer's vision into a concept
