Job Summary:

Interface is currently seeking an Environmental and Safety Manager in LaGrange, GA. 

The Environmental & Safety Manager must maintain a leadership presence on the plant floor, influence employees, and engage them in all aspects of safety and environmental processes. This position leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of critical safety and environmental process, programs, and procedures in order to achieve a zero-injury and NOV environment. The successful candidate provides leadership and applies technical abilities to engage employees at all levels of the organization in order to sustain world-class safety and environmental processes for Interface, Troup County.  

Essential duties:

  • Coach, mentor, and re-direct personnel in the plant in order to develop safety leaders
  • Assess effectiveness of plant leadership from a safety perspective and provide developmental guidance as required
  • Develop and implement training programs in a coordinated effort with appropriate plant personnel
  • Continually reinforce safe behaviors
  • Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of all critical EH&S processes, programs, and procedures
  • Develop and accomplish critical metrics to ensure continuous improvement in the processes that lead to an engaged safety culture on the floor
  • Recognize employee accomplishments and contributions
  • Manage to local, state, and federal regulations
  • Obtain and maintain permits, plans, and internal requirements
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the environmental (EMS) and Quality (QMS) systems, based on the ISO  Environmental and Quality system models
  • Complete and submit environmental reports to local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Ensure proper characterization, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances & waste
  • Conduct routine audits of safety & environmental compliance activities
  • Generate and maintain awareness of applicable safety & environmental issues throughout all levels of IFS
  • Interact with regulatory agencies on information requests, inspections, and development activities
  • Obtain environmental permits as needed and ensure compliance to their requirements
  • Serve as a resource for the corporate Director of environmental Management, VP Operational Strategies, IFS operations management, and other functions as needed
  • Provide auditing assistance or consultation at other Interface facilities as needed
  • Maintain accurate, legible and well organized records of all projects, trials and necessary support data needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualification:

Candidates must have the following:

Educational requirements: 

  • Four year degree in occupational health, and safety, environmental science or other related field

 

Skills and experience:

  • Three to five years experience leading safety and/or environmental processes in a manufacturing environment
  •     Experience dealing with external agencies and stakeholders (OSHA, EPA, Community)
  • Successful record of establishing Key Performance Indicators to measure safety processes
  •     Ability to engage, enroll, and partner with employees and teams to advance E & S efforts
  •     Excellent in interpersonal and public relations skills
  •     Professional certifications in Safety/Environmental (ASP, CSP, OSHA 501, 511 ect.)
