DESCRIPTION:
 SEASONAL POSITION STARTING IN MAY THROUGH OCTOBER MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK 2ND SHIFT
 
Position Summary:
 
Ability to safely and proficiently perform the cheese packaging positions of:
               Infeed, Assistant Infeed, Piece Weigh, Pack off, Pallet Stack, Trim
Follow procedures and supervisory direction to ensure packaging line is run within designated efficiencies without compromising the quality of the product being run.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Be aware of all safety procedures, including knowledge of the purpose and proper operation of all safety switches or devices, and can safety properly start and stop all machinery as required.
  • Actively participate in all safety trainings and promotions within the department/ facility/ company and take an active role in working safely and reporting hazards immediately.
  • Responsible for maintaining high level of compliance in housekeeping, GMP’s, SQF’s, and keeps the work area clean and inspection ready.
  • Keeps the Line Operator informed of any maintenance needs.
 
Specific Tasks and Duties
 
  • Safely perform duties in positions assigned, maintain a safe working environment for all employees, adhere to company safety goals.  Alert supervisory staff immediately of any safety issues.  Understand and comply with OSHA standards at all times.
  • Prompt line start up and line operation at established line speeds.
  • Completion of packaging reports as related to positions held on line.
  • Monitor the quality of products during shift to maintain standards for the product being packaged, immediately notify Line Operator of any quality issues/problems.
  • Follow GMP and SQF procedures at all times.
  • Assist with training of new hires.
  • Assist other team members when your duties are complete, caught up, or when line is down for repair/adjustment without direction from supervisor.
  • If trained, perform safety observations on peer employees and turn in to Packaging Supervisor.
Other duties as assigned by the Packaging Supervisor or Line Operator.

REQUIREMENTS:
 Education, Skills & Experience
  • High School Diploma desired
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Communication skills with English language, including reading and writing
  • Ability to work independently
