Description

Facility Overview:
  • The Suffield, CT facility, which opened in 1965, manufactures and distributes ice cream and frozen desert products throughout New England, New York, and regional points along the East Coast.
 
Position Overview:
  • Operate, monitor and maintain equipment associated with the designated work center.  This includes flavor vats and pumps, freezers, filler, lid system, vision system, banding operation, scanner, check weigher, labeler, bundler, and other related equipment.  The Filling Operator is also responsible for Machine Tenders and other personnel assigned to the work center.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Produce a quality product that complies with all HP Hood, State, and Federal guidelines;
  • Operate ice cream freezers, injection/variegate systems, fillers, and other related equipment in a manner that meets all company formulas and specifications, SOP’s, guidelines, and best practices;
  • Monitor and work with employees assigned to filling operation to ensure full compliance with established protocols;
  • Properly fill out and complete documents used to monitor and track all products used in the manufacturing process;
  • Disassemble and clean filling operation equipment after production or when directed to do so;
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, as well as clean and safe work practices at all times;
  • Follow all Company, State, and Federal requirements, ensuring compliance with all GMP’s,  SOP’s, and any other regulation;
  • Work effectively as part of a team and display a positive attitude;
  •  Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Safety Responsibilities:
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules;
  • Report unsafe observations or conditions to a supervisor or manager;
  • Immediately report an injury or accident to a supervisor or manager;
  • Meet all company requirements for training, including but not limited to Log Out/Tag Out Awareness, PPE, PIT, Ergonomics, etc.
 
SQF Requirements/Responsibilities:
  • Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures;
  • Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager;
 
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Basic math and computer skills;
  • Ability to work independently and within a group/team atmosphere;
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
 
 
 
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing: Long periods of time (6-8 hours)
  • Walking: Occasionally for short periods
  • Bending: Frequently
  • Ascending & Descending Stairs/Platforms (1-3 feet): Frequently
  • Twisting of Wrist: Frequently
  • Twisting of Spine: Frequently
  • Lifting: Light – Heavy, (<50# Frequently, >50# Occasionally)
  • Carrying: Light (30–50 lbs) Frequently, distance of 10 yards
  • Pushing/Pulling: Up to and over 150 pounds occasionally
