An Internship or externship in Culinary at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts focuses on developing a strong operational capability in the student.  Our students will work in the various kitchens, be coached by Culinary management Leadership, as well as be challenged to execute at a professional production level. 

The Culinary Intern/Extern is expected to bring a passion and focus on learning, maintain a professional demeanor and be committed to the full term of the Internship/Externship.

  • Internships or Externships occur at one of the following locations:
    • The Hotel Hershey
    • Hershey Lodge
    • Hershey Country Club
    • Hersheypark Entertainment Complex including Giant Center
    • Downtown Restaurant Group (Houlihan’s Restaurant/Devon Seafood & Steak)
  • Housing may be available through our housing partner depending on start date and entity

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Must be currently enrolled in Culinary School to be eligible

Additional Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of industry related Food & Beverage experience preferred
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, good knife skills, and possess a full tool kit
  • Working knowledge of weights and measures, as well as basic math applications
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • Ability to work organized alone or within a team environment
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to handle a fast paced and somewhat stressful environment

    • Lifting Frequent (34-66%) (50lbs maximum weight)
    • Reaching Overhead Occasional (<33%)
    • Finger Dexterity Constant (>67%)

    • Walking Frequent (34-66%)
  • Additional physical requirements include repetitive elbow motions for chopping, repetitive write motions for stirring and chopping
  • Must have ability of taste buds to distinguish between and among flavors, spices, temperature, and mouth feel (smoothness, pungency, etc.) of food, and beverage
  • Must have ability of olfactory nerves to distinguish between and among odors and scents as to their appeal and level of intensity
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
  • Opportunities at the Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge and Hershey Country club are a union positions and the work schedule will be based on union seniority. Candidates must be able to meet scheduled requirements, which will most likely require evening and weekend hours.
