WHAT YOU'LL DO:
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for the proper and efficient frying and grilling of all meats, fish, fowl, or poultry. Accountable for the efficiency and operation of the areas of the kitchen they are assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Requires mobility. Requires prolonged standing. Requires bending and reaching from floor level to 6 ft. Requires lifting up to 100 lbs. Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering large loads weighing up to 300 lbs. Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch, and sound. Requires normal vision range and absence of color blindness. Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols. Requires the use electrical equipment and sharp utensils. Requires regular, predictable attendance.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy,. smokey and dimly lit. work may be performed in small areas having a 2 ft. access and a work station with a height of 3 ft. Constant contact with staff and general public.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

React to food orders in an efficient and proper manner, assuring presentations and procedures are being followed.
Ability to work the assigned work stations as directed by the supervising chef’s.
Estimate and requisition supplies from proper channels.
Prepare for rush periods and food carts effectively
Set up and break down the assigned work station properly.
Move through busy public areas with safely.
Perform job combinations as necessary in the kitchen.
Other job related duties as assigned.
Assure that the station is closed down properly after each shift.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Understand and comply with all company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. Ability to perform basic math. Good demeanor in public areas and with other co-workers is essential.
High school education or equivalent required.
Experience: Basic food handling and cooking experience is required.
City of Detroit Food Handler Permit.
