Assistant Director of Facilities

Description:

Summary:

Provides assistance to the Director of Facilities in the operational direction, administration and coordination of all activities of the maintenance in the Facility department for Aquarius, Edgewater, Colorado Belle and Laughlin Event Center. Supervises assigned staff and works with interdepartmental personnel to ensure the building, life support systems and utility services are functioning in a safe and efficient fashion. 

 

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assumes the role of the Director of Facilities when the director is off duty.
  • Provides support and leadership direction to individuals directly reporting to this position in accordance with the organizational chart of the Company.
  • Creates, develops and implements an effective strategy to provide facilities support for residential areas of the hotel, public areas, gaming and back of the house service areas.
  • Monitors all support systems and controls to ensure the security and safety of the physical plant, company, guests and employees.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial goals are met for the department along with assisting with monthly P&L reports.
  • Develop plans, makes resources available and schedules required work to ensure areas of the hotel, casino, towers, roads and grounds are able to be utilized for their intended purposes.
  • Coordinates and ensures accurate preparation and distribution of daily, weekly, monthly and annual preventive maintenance, job production and expense reports.
  • Maintains excellent working relations with Clark County and other municipal agencies as may be applicable.
  • Ensures all employees within areas of responsibility receive fair and equitable treatment with regard to their respective terms and conditions of employment.
  • Maintains adequate staffing levels in the department by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and terminating employees as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, as they apply to the position
  • Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company’s guest service culture standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in plant operations management, business administration or related area from a four-year college or university.
  • Seven years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Experience with effective leadership techniques, financial reporting/analysis and cost benefit analysis required. 
  • Must have excellent computer skills (experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and various property management systems). 
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, building schematics/blue-prints, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or owners.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Must have knowledge of current OSHA standards and ensure compliance.
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company

Physical Requirements

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly walk, stand, stoop (50% of shift) or sit at a desk or table (50% of shift).
  • Able to communicate vocally and hear voice and other audible commands.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 70 lbs. or more.
  • Ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding and ramps.
  • Occasionally drive motor vehicles.
  • Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
  • Work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail.
