Assistant Chef Top of the World

The Strat (Las Vegas, NV)


Summary: Oversees overall operations of the Top of the World kitchen. Controls labor and expense costs, achieves the specified sales and labor margins and maintains the highest quality of food.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures proper handling, preparation, storage, portioning and presentation of food
  • Orders and maintains all food and beverage supplies, ensuring proper
    expense controls
  • Creates new menu items and recipes and assists in determining the cost of
    the items
  • Ensures all food is served and prepared within health, safety and
    sanitation guidelines
  • Supervises staff, including hiring, training, counseling and developing employees
  • Approves all scheduling and PTO requests for staff and schedules station rotations
  • Processes payroll for staff daily in the Kronos system
  • Performs other duties as assigned



  • At least four years of experience as a room chef or assistant executive chef in a fine dining restaurant preferred
  • Superior leadership service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • High school degree or GED

  • Ability to use kitchen equipment
  • Ability to withstand moderate noise and smoke
  • Walking and standing (more than 75% of the time)
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and moving objects (more than 75% of the time)
