Sr. Systems Engineer

Description:

Summary:

Provide support for the systems infrastructure. Coordinate and deliver system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements to existing infrastructure. Analyze business needs and support systems solutions on one or multiple platforms in a Windows LAN/WAN, or Web Architecture. Assist the Network management team with troubleshooting, maintenance, management and upgrades, as necessary. Perform the duties of a Systems Engineer I and II, when necessary. Provide guidance and leadership to fellow Systems Engineers and I.T. staff. Perform all functions in accordance with IT processes and procedures and department objectives.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an escalation point for issues that the Systems Engineer I and II are unable to resolve and take ownership until a satisfactory resolution is achieved
  • Assume duties of Network management, when needed
  • Acquire and remain current on understanding of other departments’ operational business plans and work closely with the departments’ leaders to ensure the I.T. components of their plan remain secure
  • Make recommendations to management on upgrades and/or hardware replacements to best protect the company infrastructure
  • Configure and administer Windows servers and networking department applications, including, but not limited to configuring, keeping up to date with the latest codes, software updates and patches, and signatures
  • Apply security patches, updates\upgrades to network equipment
  • Assist I.T. team with the overall strategy, design and implementation of the systems infrastructure
  • Maintain systems topology diagrams
  • Monitor systems alerts and logs on a daily basis
  • Provide on-call support for systems-related issues
  • Support I.T. Help Desk with systems troubleshooting; coordinates with Network management staff as necessary to resolve support calls
  • Conduct end-user training on network, as requested
  • Mentor and assist Systems Engineers
  • Maintain documentation for systems equipment
  • Company subject matter expert in systems infrastructure
  • Assist other divisions within I.T, as possible, to help resolve I.T. crises situations
  • Lead team on other projects as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, as they apply to the position
  • Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company’s guest service culture standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Previous experience performing same or similar job duties within the I.T. function in the gaming or hospitality industry with demonstrated ability to successfully work on, and superior working knowledge of such
  • CCNA routing and switching certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based server infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of Windows Network and Storage Area Networks
  • Experience with Visio and diagram design
  • Vendor-specific experience with Brocade and Cisco network equipment
  • Willing to and capable of providing mentoring to other I.T. staff to assist with their technical skills growth and development
  • Experience using VMware / vSphere and Vsans within a hyperconverged infrastructure
  • Experience with office 365 and teams, azure cloud services
  • Knowledge of Domain Controllers, DNS and DHCP
  • Understand the concepts of high availability, highly available and Disaster recovery
  • Understand the need for Change control and process management to allow for effect audit control
  • Experience using Service Now or similar, SolarWinds or similar
  • Experience utilizing strong support skills to resolve I.T-related issues
  • Experience working cooperatively with other I.T. departments and non-I.T. departments
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities
  • Previous experience working independently; prioritizing and planning work
  • Strong decision-making skills and sound judgment
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities at the same time
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Must have reliable communication device (i.e. cell phone, pager) readily available when not at work in case company needs to reach out during non-scheduled work hours
  • Proven experience providing high level of guest service
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology field or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
  • Verify right to work in the United States
