Security Officer - EMT

The Strat (Las Vegas, NV)



Monitor and patrol assigned areas to provide a safe environment for guests, team members, the company and their property. Care for sick and/or injured team members or guests as needed until medical personnel arrive. Provide outstanding service to our guests with questions and/or concerns.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide protection for guests and team members
  • Guard all transfers of moneys and tokens on the casino floor and transport hopper fills, chip fills and credits
  • Interact with guests and team members in a professional manner and interact with local law enforcement agencies as required
  • Assist local law enforcement and ambulatory/paramedical agencies as required
  • Routinely patrol assigned areas while providing guest assistance, being alert for suspicious circumstances or individuals, gaming violations, possible theft, safety hazards or related concerns, medical emergencies
  • Respond to reports of guest and/or team member injury or illness
  • Complete Incident Reports when a guest or team member sustains an injury
  • Maintain oxygen cylinders and first-aid equipment
  • Preserve the scene of criminal activity for investigators and outside agencies
  • Secure the operations office during in-custody situations
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Golden Entertainment Security Department policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, as they apply to the position
  • Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company’s guest service culture standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned



  • Minimum one year of law enforcement, military or EMT experience highly preferred
  • Proven experience using sound judgment and making appropriate decisions during challenging situations and/or interacting with challenging patrons
  • Must maintain a current BASIC EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN certification with the State of Nevada, Southern Nevada Health District Emergency Medical Services
  • Proven experience providing high level of guest service
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating system and applications preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Able to attend and successfully complete all quarterly firearms training and annual security recertification training
  • Compliance with all mandatory training courses and certifications on an annual basis (i.e. Sexual Harassment, New Leader Orientation, Active Shooter, AVADE, etc.)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
  • Verify right to work in the United States

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work for continuous time periods in extreme heat and cold
  • Regularly walk, stand, stoop or sit at a desk or table
  • Ability to jog or run as situations dictate
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Speech, literacy, hearing and vision (critical)
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding and ramps
  • Ability to distinguish shades of color
  • Work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail
  • Communicate via radios
