Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Security Director and/or Surveillance Director, oversees personnel involved in establishing, promoting and maintaining Casino’s Security/Surveillance and property protection programs.  As stated above, this position has a direct reporting relationship to Security and Surveillance and is charged with maintaining the integrity of each department as stated below.Ensures that all surveillance related issues or concerns are immediately directed to the Surveillance Director.Ensures that all security related issues or concerns are immediately directed to the Security Director.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the protection of Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise assets.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Security and Surveillance Department.
Ensures the operation of a 24-hour, 7 day a week Security and Surveillance operation to provide a timely response to routine and emergency situation.
Ensures all employees are complying with regulations, ordinance, MICS, gaming compact, policies and procedures.
Recruits, interviews and hires Security and Surveillance personnel as needed.
Responsible for directing subordinates and completing performance reviews.
Responsible for reviewing and editing of incident reports prepared by subordinates for completeness and accuracy.
Interacts and assists Desert Diamond Casino-Why management personnel and Casino personnel as necessary to provide adequate security protection.
Submits written reports of any breach of laws, regulations, policies and procedures to the Security Director and/or Surveillance Director.
Initiates and assists in any internal or external investigations conducted by Gaming Board, Casino Management, and Tohono O’odham Gaming Office or authorized local authorities.
Enforces policy and procedures, rules, and regulations and Gaming Compact requirements.
Provide first aide/CPR until advance care arrives.
Initiates all disciplinary actions on subordinates.
Patrol the Casino premises to ensure the safety of customers and employees.
Responds to emergency incidents and take actions as necessary.
Responds to internal security alarms and take action as necessary.
Provide for and/or schedule additional security/surveillance as needed.
Takes required enforcement action for violations of Tribal, County and State laws and if warranted, may call local authorities for assistance.
Assists in instructing and training staff.
Assists in training of department staff and developing and implementing standard operating procedure manual for department.
Reviews all incident reports and provides statistical data to Casino management.
Prepares reports and correspondence as required.
Gather reported violations.
Ensures department’s daily records are accurately maintained.
May perform the duties of all Security and Surveillance positions.
Maintains and operates Casino surveillance system up to standards required by Casino policy and procedure to include state regulations.
Ensures assignments of staff provide adequate coverage.
Ensures department’s daily records are accurately maintained.
Maintains a good communication with co-workers and maintains a positive and professional work environment.
Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Associates degree in criminal justice, business administration, management or related field plus three years surveillance, law enforcement or security experience; 18 months must have been in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be 18 years of age. No felony, theft, assault or stealing convictions.   Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license and including the following:

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications
Knowledge of safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices, and public/customer service skills in a Casino environment.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
Knowledge of investigative techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
Ability to follow instructions in verbal and written format
Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice and desire to help when dealing with people.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to walk and stand for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit.  The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee occasionally is required to taste or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level.  Evening and/or weekend, holiday work may be required.  Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required; must be able to be on call 24/7.
