The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the financial accounting department; monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports or statements; and establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.

Additional job duties include:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the financial accounting department, including: month- and year-end process, general ledger, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, fixed asset activity, debt activity, and indirect tax activity
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
  • Work with Corporate Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Guide other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operations issues
  • Monitor emerging technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Responsible for recruitment, selecting, training, development, and evaluation of personnel as well as initiation of personnel records documentation
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations
  • Provide effective, consistent communications at the highest level possible, as well as facilitate our Open-Door Policy
  • Support with special projects and workflow process improvements, as needed


  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting; CPA license preferred
  • Five to seven years prior experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area (three to five years supervisory)
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to direct and supervise
