Infection Preventionist

Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop and complete reports related to statistics/infections, as well as reports to the State.  Coordinate completion of audits.  Assist with updating policies and procedures.  Assist with teaching orientation and re-orientation as needed.  Responsible for elements of the Infection Control Program, as assigned by the Nurse Epidemiologist.  Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations.  Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator.  This is a non-union position.

Requirements:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Microbiology or related field is preferred.

Additional experience and displayed knowledge/understanding may be substituted at the discretion of the Nurse Epidemiologist for the education.

Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital.  Must have experience in collecting data using the scientific method for analysis of that data and applying the acquired knowledge appropriate to the hospital setting.

 Licenses/Certificates:

Registered Nurse (required), Certification in Infection Control preferred.  If not currently certified, will work towards certification in 2 years

Current BLS Certification through AHA required.
