Director of Clinic Operations

Description:

Position has a system-wide scope of responsibility and involves the integration of operations across organizational units.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  Through directors, managers and/or supervisors, directing the operational and administrative functions of assigned units, departments or specialized service areas on a twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) days a week basis.  Accountable for the development, management, and utilization of financial, material and human resources.  Demonstrates strategic planning and effective leadership skills of delegation and organization.  Must be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures.  For positions requiring clinical oversight, must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator.  This is a non-union position.  See Essential Job Functions.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan functional or clinical operations, developing policies and procedures.
  2. Through subordinate managers and directors, apply policies, staff the various departments, develop and administer the system-wide functional budget.
  3. Participate in the development of plans and programs as a strategic partner in evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs and strategies and regulatory interaction.
  4. Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the health system.
  5. Provide timely and accurate analyses of budgets, project proposals and business trends of function in order to assist executive leadership.
  6. Serve as hospital ambassador at community events; build community presence.
  7. Act as project manager to facilitate completion of strategic initiatives.
  8. Mentor and guide next level of hospital leaders.  Present annually at Leadership University.
  9. Responsible for maintaining the hospital’s standards and philosophy in daily operations.  Model transformational leadership and professional behavior in interactions at all levels.
  10. Identify opportunities for improved quality, efficiencies and workflow.  Create, vet and actualize action plans as directed.
  11. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of assigned service areas.
  12. Ensure optimal satisfaction of customers.  Seek ways to grow service lines through relationship-building transactions.
  13. Facilitate enterprise communication up and down lines of authorities, providing the Executive team with timely, on-going informational updates.
  14. Represent hospital administration as Administrator on Call after-hours; communicates critical, reportable or high-risk issues as appropriate.  Escalates issues as needed.
  15. Operate with a fiscally-responsible mindset, identifying opportunities to eliminate waste and increase efficiencies individually and in multi-disciplinary teams.
  16. Initiates effective ad hoc teams to resolve operational issues.  Communicates and coordinates efforts with Executive team.

 

Human Resources/Performance Improvement / Information Management

  • Maintains awareness and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to ensure a safe patient environment.
  • Attends and actively participates in team conferences and staff meetings, as assigned.
  • Participates actively in orientation of new employees and on-the-job training of assigned personnel, as assigned.
  • Adheres to all Dameron Hospital Association policies and procedures including but not limited to, the hospital Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, safety rules, Joint Commission standards, California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations and any other regulatory agency.
  • Provides methodology for dissemination of information providing opportunities for discussions of division problems, and orientation of new projects or procedures, as assigned.
  • Performs all tasks demonstrating service excellence to both staff and customers.
  • Demonstrates, supports, and models the mission, vision, values and code of conduct for Dameron Hospital Association.
  • Communicates appropriately and effectively to support the department mission.

Requirements:

Education:      

Education required for any applicable license or certificate of area of responsibility.

Bachelor’s Degree; Graduate Degree preferred.

Experience:    

At least five (5) years of content experience in an acute hospital with a minimum to two (2) years’ experience in a leadership role with progressive responsibility.

Licenses/Certificates:

For Senior Directors with oversight of Clinical areas, Current BLS Certification through AHA.
