Lead Echo Technologist

Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for:

  • Assisting the Providers in safe patient care with the Ultrasound Department;
  • Departmental quality control of all instruments, equipment and machines in accordance with federal, state and institutional guidelines;
  • Proper preparation and administration of diagnostic testing per institutional guidelines;
  • Supervising vascular and cardiac sonographers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs peripheral vascular ultrasound studies i.e.- carotid duplex, renal duplex, arterial duplex, venous duplex, venous ablation mapping and sclerotherapy mapping per PHV Protocols and echocardiography per accreditation protocols.
  • Ensures patient charts and prepared in accordance with PHV guidelines and are ready at the beginning each working day as scheduled for the Ultrasound Department.
  • Ensures weekly that outdated supplies in your work area are discarded prior to becoming outdated.
  • Ensures that all patients are escorted back to area in a respectful manner and verifying DOB and name of patient prior to rendering service.
  • Ensures that patients are seen in the order of their appointment time.
  • Ensures patients are prepared and assists, as appropriate, for designated procedure.
  • Ensures proper comfort and care of patient prior to, during, and after a procedure, including, but not limited to, patient safety.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining proper communication with patients.
  • Responsible for obtaining patient history, including vitals prior to testing.
  • Responsible for administration and supervision of designated tests.
  • Responsible for continuous monitoring of patients’ tests ensuring their safety and test accuracy within measured parameters/standards with accuracy as set forth by institutional guidelines.
  • Ensures proper inventory level of medical/surgical supplies, storage media, and other items required to perform procedures in a timely manner.
  • Ensures clinical supplies for area are ordered in a timely fashion according to practice policy so that no shortages occur.
  • Ensures scheduling patient procedures appropriate to the indication and in the proper sequence.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate records of administered quality control procedures, patient reports, and other required records as needed.
  • Ensures the proper performance of the imaging systems.
  • Ensures the appropriate imaging of data collection parameters.
  • Ensures the positioning of the patient for imaging, adapting the protocol to patient limitations, and obtaining quality images.
  • Ensures images required are of the highest quality and that the required information has been collected and processed properly.
  • Responsible for performing data collection, processing, and analysis.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

Human Resources/Performance Improvement / Information Management

  • Maintains awareness and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to ensure a safe patient environment.
  • Attends and actively participates in team conferences and staff meetings, as assigned.
  • Participates actively in orientation of new employees and on-the-job training of assigned personnel, as assigned.
  • Adheres to all Dameron Hospital Association policies and procedures including but not limited to, the hospital Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, safety rules, Joint Commission standards, California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations and any other regulatory agency.
  • Provides methodology for dissemination of information providing opportunities for discussions of division problems, and orientation of new projects or procedures, as assigned.
  • Performs all tasks demonstrating service excellence to both staff and customers.
  • Adheres and provides all Echo Accreditation policies.
  • Responsible for monitoring support staff productivity, efficiencies, and accuracy of their position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates, supports, and models the mission, vision, values and code of conduct for Dameron Hospital Association.

Must:

  • Be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations;
  • Be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures;
  • Participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator;

Requirements:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Education:                   BA/BA in related field or equivalent
  • Experience:                 Two to three years’ experience required
  • Licenses/Certificates:   Certified Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Ultrasound
