Labor Relations Advisor

Status: Full-Time, Temporary 3-5 month assignment

Salary Range: $32-$44 hourly – Non-Benefited

Under the direction of the Human Resource Director, provides hospital level support to leaders and employees related to Union and Non-Union employee relation.  This role interprets collective bargaining contracts and provides education to Hospital leadership regarding employee relations concerns. This role also regularly handles traditional labor questions/issues, union organizing, interpretation of complex contract terms, policies or rules, discipline/employment related issues.

Provides hospital-wide labor relations support through proper administration and implementation of labor contracts; researches and prepares agenda items and topics for contract negotiations; resolves labor complaints, disputes, and grievances; participates in labor contract training, and provides technical advice and interpretation to management and employees.

Ensures labor contracts and all employee policies and procedures are within legal and regulatory standards. Interprets Human Resources policy and procedures to employees and managers. Makes recommendations for changes to policies and procedures and opportunities for process improvement. Works closely with payroll and other administrative departments to ensure proper interpretation and enforcement of collective bargaining agreements.

Works in conjunction with Human Resources Director to implement and communicate Employee & Labor Relation programs. Develops programs and administers training to educate managers in the requirements and procedures for disciplining and terminating employees. Supervises assigned staff in accordance with policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and evaluating work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving disputes and complaints.

The following role works closely with all HR staff and completes other HR Generalist duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Resources or related business discipline
  • 3-5 years Labor Relations Experience
  • 1-2 years supporting multiple bargaining units
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communications
  • Ability to interpret multiple collective bargaining agreements.
  • Previous Healthcare experience required.
