Job Description:

Chowning’s Tavern:Guests at Chowning’s will savor the great tastes of local BBQ, pulled pork, ribs, and chicken - all local favorites! There is a wide selection of Virginia wines, beers and ales, including regional brews that help provide a pub ambience. Gambols (18th-century games) begin at 5:00 p.m. daily.

Prepare salads, vegetables, starches.

Slice sandwich meats and portion as needed.

Prepare burgers and sandwiches to temperature and to order.

Prepare lunch and dinner meal periods.

Prepare seafood, poultry entrees; cook meats, broil steaks and seafood to quality standards.

Use recipes according to standard.

Maintain sanitation of station. 

Job Requirements:

Associate Culinary Degree or Certificate in Culinary Arts from technical school.

At least 4 years restaurant cooking experience including some broiler work (formal culinary training will substitute for 2 years work experience on an equal time basis).

Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays, schedules vary but may start as early as 7 a.m. to as late as 2 a.m.

Ability to (1) interact with co-workers in a professional manner; (2) read food orders and production charts; (3) maintain standards listed below

Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler’s card; applicants with an active food handler’s card should be prepared to present it during the interview process.

Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: (1) transporting weights up to 50 pounds; (2) standing for long periods of time
