Job Description:

Christiana Campbell's Tavern:  This historic tavern, George Washington's personal favorite, is Colonial Williamsburg's premier dining tavern. Grilled seafood dishes are balanced with regional favorites such as Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes, and Muddle - a tomato-based stew of shrimp, scallops, and fish fillets. Chicken Imperial and Filet Mignon and Rib- eye steaks are also offered. The entrees are complemented by long-time tavern favorites: Spoon Bread and Sweet Potatoe muffins.     

Prepare food items according to standard to support the restaurant.

Prepare salads, vegetables, starches, for a la carte.

Prepare seafood, poultry entrees; cook meats, broil steaks and seafood to quality standards.

Prepare lunch and dinner meal periods.

Plate desserts.

Assist in plating of all courses as needed.

Use recipes according to standard.

Maintain sanitation, cleanliness and organization of work area.

Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements:

Associate Culinary Degree or Certificate in Culinary Arts from technical school 

At least 4 years restaurant cooking experience including some broiler work (formal culinary training will substitute for 2 years work experience on an equal time basis)

Demonstrated knowledge of basic cooking techniques

Ability to produce the required quality and quantity of foods with supervision

Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Ability to (1) interact with co-workers in a professional manner; (2) read food orders and production charts; (3) maintain standards listed below

Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler’s card; applicants with an active food handler’s card should be prepared to present it during the interview process.

Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: (1) transporting up to 50 pounds; (2) standing for long periods of time
