JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
  • Underwrite and analyze upper middle-market & corporate loans, participations in syndications & club-deals and provide due-diligence and pre-screening guidance in order to produce timely and accurate credit recommendations to loan requests presented by Treasury and the business units of the Bank, while maintaining proper adherence to credit policy and banking regulations.  Collaborate with all participants (Treasury, business unit, sponsors, other lenders, etc.) involved in the origination process. Underwrite upper middle-market or commercial credits in various industries assigned by the Credit Manager. 
 
  • Perform quarterly, semi-annual & annual reviews of the bank’s corporate portfolio to ascertain the quality of the loans.  Monitor, and review financial analysis of the Bank’s corporate borrowers, which includes the analysis & underwriting of all type of facilities, such as, working capital lines of credit, asset-based financing, term loans for fixed assets, inclusive of trade financing facilities, accounts receivable discounting and supply chain financing.  This requires a comprehensive understanding of financial statement analysis, including stress-testing & sensitivity analysis under different scenarios and making projections using key drivers & assumptions.  The overall function is to have a clear understanding of future projections of cash flows, capital structure and repayment risk in order to reach a conclusion and recommendation with respect to the strength & creditworthiness of the borrower and/or guarantor as reflected via the bank’s internal obligor risk rating.  
 
  • Continually review & revise credit policies & procedures while maintaining the quality of portfolio by monitoring changing dynamics of borrower, market and industry. Adjust risk grades to accurately reflect the risk rating based on changes in borrower financial condition, market & peer group analysis and industry outlook (low risk, medium risk, high risk industries).  Based on performance results, make recommendations to improve portfolio loan quality.  Must demonstrate skill & ability to make presentations to Loan Committee and/or Executive Committee.
 
  • Coordinate and work closely with the lending area to visit borrowers and understand the market risk, industry concentration and growth strategy.  The job also requires having a clear opinion on the current and expected economic conditions in Florida, the target markets and regions (USA and International).  Attend meetings and conferences in large or syndicated facilities in order to enhance understanding of the cases being analyzed and pre-screen and detect unacceptable risks early on in the underwriting process.
 
  • To identify, evaluate, monitor and make any recommendation deemed necessary to their respective Risk Management Committee in order to assess, reduce, eliminate or control any current or prospective risks to earnings or capital arising from violations of, or nonconformance with, laws, rules regulations, prescribed practices, internal policies and procedures or ethical standards.
 
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Department Assistant Manager or Department Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
Functional Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
 
Must be a team player, have the ability to work under pressure, have a professional image and be able to resolve problems and conflicts. Must be able to prioritize work and effectively manage time and have the ability to manage change. Must possess basic business communications skills such as advanced writing, listening and have basic office and mathematics skills, and customer service skills. Possession of professional skills such as report writing, advanced statistics, effective presentation skills, creative skills, budgeting, ethics management and conducting effective meetings and research assessment are required. Must possess sales and negotiation skills.
   
Minimum Education and/or Certifications Requirements: BA in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration/Economics or related disciplines.
   
Minimum Work Experience Requirements: Three to five years of credit analysis experience including credit risk evaluation in the domestic and international financial and commercial fields.
   
Technical and/or Other Essential Knowledge: At least three (3) years of experience in analyzing large middle-market & corporate transactions with complex repayment structures, including activity reports for performance measurement.  Detailed oriented, superior math skills, good analytical and writing skills a must.  Ability to work independently and produce high quality financial analyses, including credit risk evaluation, and loan structuring. Working knowledge and understanding of bank credit policies and products.  Preferably bilingual, English-Spanish.  Previous experience with Lotus Notes, Internet and MS Office Skills, including MS Word Advanced, MS Excel Advanced, MS Powerpoint Advanced, MS Project Level II and MS Visio Level I required.
   
Working Conditions: Physical Demand:  Air conditioned office environment with 95% of time spent performing office related tasks and 5% involving walking to other areas and departments. Some lifting and kneeling is required, as well as carrying light objects such as employee files and training materials.
