JOB DESCRIPTION:

NOTICE: If you meet the qualifications for this position, you will be contacted to come into Human Resources for a pre-screening interview.

It is the primary responsibility of the COOK 2 to perform the proper and efficient frying, grilling, or sautee of menu items as dictated by menu.    Perform cooking duties as described by supervisor.
 
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Circus Circus Reno policies, practices and procedures.
 
 
Specific Job Functions:
 

  • Work may be performed in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky or dimly lit
  • Cooks, fries, grills or sauté menu items as needed in deep or shallow oil or cooking surfaces.
  • Fast and sanitary servicing of all menu items to restaurant food servers – ensuring that each order sent out is standard and uniform
  • Season food, add garnish, side dishes, etc to all orders as required
  • Estimate daily supplies needed and requisition from the Sous Chef or supervisor
  • Ensure that orders are filled accurately and food is maintained in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Ability to work in a ‘rush’ period and maintain productivity
  • Set up and break down the work station in one of the assigned property’s kitchens on a daily basis
  • Follow departmental rules to ensure safety, cleanliness and customer satisfaction
  • Perform any additional duty supervisor deems necessary to ensure smooth operation of the restaurant  and maximize customer service excellence
  • Maintain a professional and friendly attitude with all guests and fellow workers
  • Maintain uniform and name tag in a neat, clean manner at all times
  • All other responsibilities as required by management
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned
  • Maintain proper dress code

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum age is 18.  Starting wage is $11.73 per hour.  Full positions available, must be flexible with schedule.  Position available in the Americana Cafe & Geckos.  Two years high volume cafe cooking experience preferred.  Read and understand English.  Must have your own tools.
 

  • Mobility to include bending, reaching, prolonged standing and walking, accessing and lifting items from floor level to six feet high and lifting up to 80 lbs.
  • Transporting, pushing, pulling and maneuvering large loads weighing up to 200 pounds
  • Normal sense of smell, taste, touch, sound and vision range
  • Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity as well as the ability to distinguish letters and symbols
  • Use of electrical and gas equipment and sharp utensils
  • Regular and dependable attendance
  • Positive attitude and ability to be courteous during demanding times departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff;
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms and perform basic math
  • Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance, adhering to Circus Circus Reno standards
  • Must comply with all OSHA and departmental safety procedures
  • Must wear all personal protective equipment as required
  • Must safely operate freight elevator
  • Must follow all food sanitation and safe food practices as described by management, both written and oral instruction
  • Must follow all safety procedures for the use of any cooking or food preparation equipment
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
