JOB DESCRIPTION:

Located in the heart of Solvang and Central Coast Wine Country, The Root 246 restaurant offers an ever changing, fresh, farm to table experience to both locals and tourists.  

The Root 246 Chef de Cuisine will manage the operations of the outlet specific kitchen to support banquet events and daily restaurant operations.  The Chef de Cuisine will oversee the preparation of food and inventory levels of the kitchen.  The position will be responsible for full menu creation and creativity in consultation with the Executive Chef. The position is responsible for training Team Members and ensuring that exceptional product and guest service is provided.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Age Requirement

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Culinary Arts Degree required or five (5) years proven culinary experience in a fine dining environment, preferably in a AAA 4- or 5-Diamond restaurant.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have essential knowledge of front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) restaurant operations.
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of restaurant operations, management and administration, including profit and loss management, guest relations, hiring, training, scheduling, cost control systems, safety, sanitation and health code laws.
  • Must have strong knowledge, appreciation and passion for quality food and wine.
  • Strong organizational and team building skills.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated track record of achievement, contribution and success in improving restaurant operations, efficiency and profitability.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Must obtain a food handler card within 30 days of employment. 
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
