Title 31 Auditor

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Description of the Position:

 

Collects and aggregates Title 31 logs from casino operations, and determines the appropriate forms to be filed with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Verifies the accuracy of all tax forms, transmits tax form activity records to the IRS, and files year-end reports.

 

Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:

 

  • Ensures compliance with government regulations and internal policies and procedures related to Title 31.
  • Audits and verifies Title 31 documents daily.
  • Responsible for aggregating multiple transaction logs daily.
  • Files Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) forms in a timely manner.
  • Receives suspicious activity reports from departments; gathers all necessary information on reported incident, and forwards all documentation to Title 31 Officer for review.
  • Audits W-2G, 1099-MISC, and 1042-S tax forms daily.
  • Files year-end tax returns related to gaming winnings and promotional giveaways.
  • Researches and analyzes data related to IRS penalty notice and CP2100-A; corrects data entry errors and prepares mailings for patrons with updated information.
  • Maintains the Title 31 database.
  • Receives, balances, collects, and/or verifies Title 31-related data for completeness and accuracy, ensuring supporting documentation is provided as required; maintains awareness of discrepancies and investigates as needed.
  • Follows up on any Title 31 issues within established guidelines, including the completion of related correspondence.
  • Collaborates with appropriate internal departments and outside agencies to effectively communicate and comply with Title 31 requirements.
  • Assists with annual/periodic trainings for casino employees on how to properly utilize and update the Title 31 software application.
  • Distributes Title 31-related logs, materials, and brochures to casino Team Members.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and integrity while observing the highly confidential nature of the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Experience

  • Recordkeeping experience in an accounting or related environment, or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of casino experience is preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of Title 31 and related documents.
  • Basic knowledge of gaming operations related to slots and table games.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable regulations, rules, procedures, and administration.
  • Proficient in 10-key and other office equipment.
  • General proficiency in computers, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, e-mail, and Internet.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience and tact.
  • Exceptional detail and follow-up skills.
  • Multi-task oriented.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
