Sr Manager of Planning & Analysis

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary:

The Director of Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting provides insight to senior management by synthesizing complex information and creating meaningful analysis, reporting, and interpretation on market trends and all facets of the business. Predicts variables of interest before those variables are known, and turns those predictions into business value in the form of insight, product enhancement or product ideation, and development. Directs and oversees a team that collects, manages, and analyzes business data and makes business improvement recommendations. Recommends policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization.

 

Job Duties:

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Identifies business trends, conducts root cause analysis of business problems, draws conclusions about business operations, and suggests changes or improvements to improve performance, efficiency, quality, or compliance of operations.
  • Puts processes in place to ensure quality and efficiency, from ideation through Go To Market, and every step along the way.
  • Provides insight to senior management that effectively articulates the financial impact of each major financial decision, the various options available, and the long term financial effects on the company's financial health.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to identify projects, functions, or departments that are candidates for performance improvement initiatives.
  • Drives financial performance by managing routine operating and financial metric reporting processes, analyzing results and trends, and providing variance and analysis driven insights and feedback; actively seeks to enhance the quality of efforts across the organization, proactively resolve issues and implement change.
  • Helps drive financial education, accountability, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • Improves financial performance by identifying opportunities to improve operations, initiating and sometimes leading that change within finance or cross functionally.
  • Assists other teams in driving financial and nonfinancial systems and reporting changes.
  • Partners with Technology team, to identify new data sources and evaluate and improve existing data infrastructure; recommends third party software and helps implement into current architecture.

Planning:

  • Supports the annual budget process by maintaining robust financial models and collaborating with property senior leaders to generate annual business plans towards meeting budget goals.
  • Oversees the financial forecasting cycle by anticipating business changes and spotting trends, getting key stakeholders aligned on material inputs, completing input models, loading systems, producing reporting, and providing insightful analysis, contingency plans, and operational recommendations.
  • Provides direct ROI based analysis for capex expenditure and assists the CFO in holding businesses accountable for the ROI.
  • Continually improves and builds upon the FP&R department, developing internal associates and identifying high quality talent needed to ensure financial success.

Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience. Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Extensive working experience in relational database design. SQL preferred.
