Fleet Maintenance Technician

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Fleet Maintenance Technician performs semi-skilled repair and maintenance work for the Transportation Department on vehicles including but not limited to diesel buses, cars, trucks, golf carts, and forklifts. In addition, the Fleet Maintenance Worker will perform daily cleaning and detailing of Transportation vehicles.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Automotive Institute Certification, ASE, or related certification preferred.
Experience
  • Prior experience in vehicle maintenance and/or repair work preferred.
  • Experience in diesel vehicle maintenance and/or repair work preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid California Commercial Driver’s License (class A or B) with airbrake endorsement within 90 days of employment.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems of vehicles including trucks and diesel buses.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations concerning commercial and non-commercial vehicles.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and methods used in repair.
  • General proficiency in computers, including Microsoft Office applications, e-mail and Internet.
  • Ability to learn and apply mechanical skills and methods.
  • Ability to learn and apply all departmental safety practices and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience and tact.
  • Valid California Commercial Driver’s License (A or B) with all applicable endorsements and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to operate a manual and automatic transmission vehicle.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Native American hiring preference applies.
