Responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities and functions of Medial Staff activities as delegated by the Director of Physician Services including Medical Staff credentialing, physician support services; and physician satisfaction and hospital relations for CSRHC. Oversee and supervise Medical Staff Office Associates and related duties and responsibilities; Supervise the activities and functions of the Medical Staff credentialing process consistent with Medical Staff bylaws, manuals, and rules and regulations; Assures compliance with local, state and federal laws relating to credentialing of all independent providers of care at all CSRHC facilities; Ensures review of applicants for membership and reappointment is coordinated accurately and timely in compliance with defined schedules; Establishes and maintains good communication with members of the Medical Staff, Administration, Hospital Staff and external parties; Maintains current knowledge of CMS, TJC Medical Staff Standards and other state and federal regulations. Assists with any TJC accreditation preparation for Medical Staff. Provides current and accurate information on legal issues/requirements and pertinent regulatory standards using case precedent citations, Texas Medical Practice Act requirements, and other state and federal guidelines to facilitate informed decisions and avoid anti-trust litigation and other legal consequences; Maintains current knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies and procedures, Joint Commission Standards, and other regulatory requirements related to the credentialing process; Interfaces effectively with Hospital Departments, Physician Offices, and other individuals and entities involved in Medical Staff activities; Analyzes information thoroughly to identify potential quality care issues, behavioral problems, appropriate education and training with Department Chairmen and Section Chiefs. Investigates issues of concern, generates reports, and presents findings to facilitate recommendations to the Board of Directors. Facilitates assigned medical staff standing, ad hoc and special committee meetings. Consults with respective department/committee chairs and hospital staff to achieve action-oriented outcomes assuring that problems identified are either acted upon or appropriately referred; Records conclusions and recommendations succinctly and accurately to substantiate actions taken. Maintains and protects the confidential record of proceedings which may be required in subsequent internal investigations and/or external legal disputes. Demonstrates adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care. Provides assistance for special projects and accomplishes assignments as delegated by the Director. Assists the Director in bringing about an enhancement of relationships with physicians by working effectively with physician leaders, new medical staff members, and physician office personnel; Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience. Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field preferred. Experience: Three to five years recent experience of progressive responsibility in medical staff services, preferably in a large health care facility strongly preferred. Licensure/Certification: Certified Medical Staff Coordinator preferred.
