SUMMARY Provides quick and friendly service of food & beverages to dining room patrons, and ensures customer satisfaction consistent with the policies and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 1. Complete opening and closing duties, including side work, efficiently. Inspects table and chairs to ensure they are clean. Sets patrons tables (i.e. settings & amenities) in accordance with restaurant policy. Maintains necessary tableware and equipment in service station areas for complete shift function. Keeps service station clean and well stocked. Reports shortages of stock or equipment to Manager, and takes required action. 2. Greets and seats patrons, as necessary (i.e. if required by Host/Hostess). Provides timely, efficient and courteous service to clientele. Adheres to correct sequence of service: pours water; takes beverage order; presents menu; offers specials; answers questions; makes suggestions concerning menu items; relays order to the kitchen; and serves courses from the kitchen and bar. Writes order on check, processes orders and patron check computations using computer system. 3. Monitors parton consumption and signals kitchen as to when next meal course should be prepared by kitchen staff. Observes patron to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed. Totals parton’s bill and accepts payment or refers patron to cashier. 4. Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each meal. 5. Remains in dining area to ensure customer satisfaction within station boundaries. 6. Maintains knowledge of established recipes pertaining to menu selections and beverages. 7. Assists co-workers to ensure smoothness of operations, including bussing, as necessary. 8. Maintains good hygiene and grooming habits. Smiles and maintains friendly demeanor at all times. Fosters positive communications. 9. Reports any patron complaint to restaurant management immediately upon receipt. Maintains knowledge of marketing promotions. 10. Performs other duties as assigned by F & B management. SUPERVISISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this job. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalency is required. Experience in food operation is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on –one and small group situations to customers, and other employees. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to computer rate, fractions and percentages. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardize situations with only occasional or no variables. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES,REGISTRATIONS Must posses current Pennsylvania Racing License OTHER SKILLS and ABILITES Should be personable & out-going PHYSICAL DEMANDS The Physical demands here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle and feel objects, use tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally requires to balance; stoop; kneel or crouch; and taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Responsibilities frequently performed to meet deadlines. At times, work environment can be fast-paced. Concentration on customer needs, conducting situation analysis, and making rapid decisions is frequently required. Contact with patrons is required. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and warm temperatures. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.
