Assistant Shift Manager

Job Description

The Assistant Shift Manager Slots oversees the day-to-day operations of Slot Operations employees of their assigned shift with specialized attention to employee engagement, guest service, protection of company assets, and ensuring staff duties are performed.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBLITIES: 

  • Creates a memorable guest and employee experience by effectively aligning the people, product, and processes that are the foundation of the Borgata culture.   

  • Maintains the utmost integrity, promoting the highest caliber of customer service.  

  • Develops enduring relationships with guests, promotes positive public relations and presents one’s self as a credit to the Borgata organization. 

  • Assists the Shift Manager, assuming those responsibilities to cover days off, vacations, and other times as needed. 

  • Extends complimentary services to players when appropriate and within established guidelines. 

  • Effectively develop and mentor hourly employees to support employee’s career goals and to ensure all departmental standards and goals are understood and met. 

  • Assist the Shift Manager with management of human resource responsibilities to include training, issuing discipline, and ensure the proper documentation of all actions taken for assigned staff members. 

  • Works to improve operations through ongoing evaluation of work processes and available resources.   

  • Assists in the development of the department's strategic operating plan and capital budget.  

  • Develops training programs with an emphasis on customer service and supervisory leadership utilizing S.H.O.W. 

  • Assists with department staffing levels, making appropriate adjustments and recommendations to scheduling personnel on all shifts. 

  • Monitors existing internal controls for efficiency and effectiveness.  

  • Research and resolve guest and / or employee issues effectively and professionally. 

  • Attends guest functions with premium players and addresses problem situations that cannot be resolved by subordinates. 

  • Manage, organize, and complete assigned projects with attention to detail within established deadline. 

  • Delegate job duties and tasks to employee’s utilizing S.H.O.W. as the basis for guest engagement. 

  • Ensure inventory of all company equipment and sensitive keys during shift are maintained and accounted for. 

  • Protect the confidentiality of company files and documents under immediate control. 

  • Develops a strong working relationship with all department employees through open communication and an approachable demeanor. 

  • Ensures that all department activities reflect the policies, philosophies and regulations of the company/property/department as well as compliance with all CCC and DGE regulations. 

  •  All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. 

  • Exposure to casino related environmental factors including but not limited to second hand smoke, excessive noise, and stress related to servicing customers in a high pressure and fast paced environment. 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.  

  • Four years’ experience in Slot Operations.  

  • Must possess a valid NJ casino license or have the ability to obtain one. 

  • Ability to communicate both orally and written, logically and independently plan and organize, direct a workforce, providing support to set and achieve high standards of performance.  

  • Must have professional appearance and demeanor. 

  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to company standards. 

  • Excellent customer service skills. 

  • Must be able to stand for an entire shift and be able to move throughout the Casino/Hotel areas. 

  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
