The Merchandise Manager will effectively assist the Store Director and Customer Service Manager in general management duties and share responsibility for the store’s operation and performance. The Merchandise Manager will help direct and supervise all phases of store operations and personnel to achieve sales and customer service goals established for the store. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for obtaining maximum sales and margins, controlling labor, shrink and other operating expenses, and ensure that the store meets targeted projections and goals through the effective utilization of personnel and resources available. Observe and enforce all store rules and company policies. Serve as a role model and trainer for providing superior customer service and ensure that customer requests and concerns are handled promptly and courteously. Plan, build, and merchandise end displays to obtain maximum sales, profit and turnover. Also interface with vendor sales representatives and submit recommendations to the Store Director according to company policies. Prepare weekly work schedule for certain areas of the Grocery department. Responsible for coaching, acknowledging accomplishments, and reviewing customer service and sales tracking reports. Responsible for supervising department managers and aiding them with employee performance and training; conduct annual performance reviews. Ensure that all employees adhere to company policy for compliance with heath department, weights and measures requirements, liquor and tobacco laws, and cash handling
Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:
Previous grocery retail management experience or college degree in business management or marketing.
Knowledge of store operations.
Working knowledge of company operating reports and record keeping, able to calculate figures pertaining to gross margins, markup, inventory, and effective safe and cash handling.
Ability to solve practical problems and effectively manage human resources through efficient communication and supervision.
All candidates must have excellent customer service skills, reliable transportation, and must pass a drug and/or background screen.
Must be 18 years old to apply.
Ability to bend and lift up to 70 pounds.
Exposure to various work environments that includes temperature changes
Work includes: walking, standing for long periods, repetitive hand and arm movements, frequent heavy lifting, bending, and stretching along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast paced environment.
