JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, the Environmental Technician is responsible for conducting environmental surveys and assessments, monitoring condition of Tribal natural resources working closely with contractors and other governmental agencies for protection of Tribal resources and providing assistance to other Tribal entities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling in accordance with EPA 106 & 319 grant-funded programs. Enter collected data; prepare EPA-required reports including quarterly reports and annual Water Quality Assessment Report.
Conduct annual assessment and inventory of Indian Canyons Heritage Park trails; prepare/update annual report.
Conduct annual assessment and inventory of outdoor advertising displays; prepare/update annual report.
Investigate code enforcement complaints; liaison with cities and the Bureau of Indian Affairs to resolve issues and assist with cleanups.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
College degree in natural resources related field from an accredited college or university, or at least two (2) years of work experience in the environmental field; or a combination of education and experience. Experience working with tribal governments or small communities is highly desirable.
Able to perform basic field tasks such as water sampling and monitoring
Working knowledge of scientific methods and techniques of field research.
Ability to prepare reports and meet federal reporting requirements
Basic knowledge of ESRI ArcMap and Global Positioning Systems.
Must be able to travel overnight and attend various trainings, workshops and conferences
Must possess a valid CA driver’s license and be insurable under the Tribe’s existing automobile insurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. to waist level and be able to walk carrying the weight.
Must be able to work outdoors exposed to weather conditions on a daily basis which can range from 32 degrees F. to 125 degrees F.
