Network Engineer

Job Description Summary

 The Network Engineer will coordinate with the Sr. Network Engineer for tasks that arise in day to day operations of the various computer systems, hardware, networking solutions, servers, central data center, telecommunications and future recommended solutions. They will provide on-site/remote administration for software users in a variety of work environments, including professional offices, workgroups or departments, and corporate information services. The Network Engineer will also be assigned functional roles by the Sr. Network Engineer with any future projects that have been decided on including being accountable for the IT Engineering department responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

 Networking

  • Assists the Sr. Network Engineer for the administration, maintenance, and installation of all ACBCI network infrastructure and those core systems that specifically impact the business in relation to the Internet, telephony, communication, routing, and switching, etc. Will also recommend new solutions in regards to hardware and software.

 Internal Systems

  • Assists the Sr. Network Engineer for the 3rd level support for property IT support, system backups, archiving, and disaster recovery.
  • Assists the Sr. Network Engineer design, implementation, and maintenance of systems, programs, hardware, and software.

 Asset Management

  • Assists the Sr. Network Engineer for inventory management of all software licenses, software, hardware and other IT Engineering assets as required by the business.
  • Assists the Sr. Network Engineer with recommendations for purchasing software, hardware and other IT Engineering software required by the business.

Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and have at least two years working experience.
  • Candidate must possess a current valid Microsoft Certified System Engineer Certificate (M.C.S.E.) and/or Cisco Certified Network Administrator(CCNA) or be able to obtain within 6 months.
  • Must be familiar with PC hardware and server hardware Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 20xx, Windows 20xx Server), Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to stand, move and work throughout the office area and properties, including walking up to 1 ½ mile, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/work station for the duration of the shift.  Must be able to work in a smoke-filled environment.

 Typically the individual will be housed in an office environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but will escalate when located in the casino environment.  Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to:  a computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone.
